Post-holiday malaise

I'm sitting here at home in Asheville. The sky is bright blue after a mean rain. Mean because there was no snow. I'm thinking about the post-holiday malaise. THIS is my last Christmas break. After spending my whole life so far in education, at this time next year I'll be working the day after Christmas. How do people do it? You need at least three days in between holidays to reboot and then be ready for the next one.

And then there are the stay-at-home moms who never get a day off. I ti…

Let's aim for Tuesday or Wednesday at 4, before it gets dark. I live on Westover. Call me Monday and we'll see if the weather will be nice to walk. 273-7405.

Mornin' Tonya. TLC, that's awesome! The story behind my name is that my Mom was into Carly Simom at the time, but she didn't like the way it was spelled. My whole life, older people would always say, "Like Carly Simon", like I never heard that before...lol!

Hi Tonya. My name is Carlie, not Carrie. No biggie. Common mistake. You can send your sister to infantmassagusa.org if she's interested. Tell her to click on the "Learn Infant Massage" icon on the top left, and then go to the "parent educator directory" in the first paragraph. I just checked it out, and there are quite a few instructors up there. Hopefully, she can find one close to her. And yes, I've always been a morning person, but when one has children, there's simply no choice. Often I get up at 5am just to have a little time to myself.

Good morning, Tonya. How old is the adopted child? Massage would definately be indicated for both parent and child. I would be thrilled to have to opportunity to work with them. Intially, I had wanted to focus my practice on adopted children and their families. Often there are sensory issues in such cases. If you feel inclined to pass along my contact information my web address is www.gotmassage.org. The site is still under construction, so to speak, but there's some information about me, Also she could go to infantmassageusa.org or iaim.net. Lots of great info on both of those sites. Anyway, see how I am. Don't get me started...lol! Great to meet you. Talk soon. Carlie

Good morning, Tonya! I love your page, and your Post-holiday malaise blog. Its poetic. I love creative writing. I also love your coffee shop idea. I'm new to this site. Really enjoying how easy it is to connect with people. Look forward to getting to know you. Have a great day!

Hi! I was reading your "About Me" section and saw that you are a teacher. I am also a teacher. I teach 3rd grade and tutor 4th graders in writing and reading. Where in Asheville are you going to open your coffee shop (that is just what Asheville needs!)? Do you have any children?
