My triplets (3 boys) are now 19 months old, and have learned how to climb out of the cribs. Is there something I can do to keep them in? Some people have told me to get toddler beds, but how do I get them to stay in those beds?

We recently purchased a youth bed four our three year old that came with a removable "gate" that could be anchored under the mattress. Our daughter is still in the crib for now, though, and I believe that if she wanted to escape the toddler bed with the gate she could easily do so! Good luck.

I had a climber too. I did put a lengthy reply on my blog (Dalai Mama) if you want to read it. I actually included some advice.

I did not have triplets but....i had one stubborn 2 yr old. The way i trained her to sleep in the bed was to camp out next to her, on the floor and repeatedly put her back to bed or stop her from exiting the bed. It was not fun but it only took two nights and then she was happy to sleep in her big girl bed, and i to return to mine. Good luck and bless your heart x3.

When my girls were about 2, we got toddler beds and I, too, worried about them climbing out. I found that formulating a dependable nighttime routine really helped. I would put them in the tub to play for about 45 minutes - they loved to play in the tub and it was a great way to wind down at the end of the day. Afterward, we'd have dinner, then I'd take them up to bed and read to them. First, I would read one or two of their favorite books - Dr. Suess or something of the like, then I would read a longer book that had less pictures and rhyming distractions - I had a series of winnie the pooh stories that accomplished this. They would listen to me read and because it wasn't a book they could necessarily "participate" in, they would soon fall off to sleep. Once sleeping, at that age, they rarely if ever got up til the next morning. I kept the baby monitor in their room, so when they did get up in th e morning, I could hear them.
